Mitch LaRocca Sr., senior member of the DCC office, has been involved in commodity futures and related businesses for over 35 years.  He has developed and refined various systematic trading approaches to the market and makes a variety of those available to his clients.  Working closely with his son,  Mr. LaRocca has developed an extensive array of products and services specifically designed to help the DCC client achieve their futures investing goals with maximum support and convenience.  His extensive knowledge and experience is a valuable asset to both DCC and their clients.

Mitchel J. LaRocca, Jr.

President of Dallas Commodity Company, Mitch LaRocca Jr. has been involved in the futures industry since 1980.  After receiving his MBA in finance from SMU in 1979 he became registered with a major brokerage firm as an associated person.  Well versed in both retail and managed futures trading he has an expansive list of clients ranging in experience from beginners to accomplished veterans.  His expertise in managed futures accounts dates back to 1980.  He is knowledgeable in the creation of commodity pools, the designing of trading programs, and the use of futures to diversify investment portfolios.  His experience and guidance is available to those individuals or institutions wishing to create a diversified portfolio approach to their futures investing.

Phil Layer

After 22 years as a practicing attorney, Phil turned his attention toward his passion for investing and made the transition into the futures industry.  As a series-3 licensed professional, his understanding of general trading strategies and market fundamentals are helpful to interested investors.  Phil is available to interested speculators as well as those individuals interested in seeking access to professional commodity futures money managers (CTAs).

Walter Otstott

Walter Otstott returned to Dallas Commodity in May 2004, having been with the firm and its various clearing affiliations from 1987 through 1998 before venturing to other non-futures endeavors.

Walter was introduced to futures and options in 1985, working for a Japanese brokerage house in Australia through 1987, trading the Japanese, Hong Kong and Australian markets. He also trained numerous brokers for various brokerage firms (including several of the major houses) to pass the difficult Series 3 examination which is required for a broker to trade futures and options in the United States .

Walter has a strong grasp of the more complicated options and futures/options combination strategies.  In addition to hedging and speculative trading he also is well-versed in the area of managed futures.  With access to numerous professional Commodity Trading Advisors he can help diversify your investment portfolio among top money managers.

Tim Powell

Tim received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona in 1993 and a Master’s from UCLA in 2002.  He has been an active trader since 1997.  Having acquired his Series-7 (securities) license in 2004 and Series-63 in 2005, his interest in the commodity futures markets prompted him in 2006 to earn his Commodity Futures Series-3 license. 

Tim is knowledgeable of numerous trading strategies in the equity and futures markets, having both day-traded and position-traded in both areas.  In addition, he has experience in trading options, including covered calls and a variety of spread strategies in both futures and options on futures. 

Currency traders will find his experience in the Forex market especially helpful as global economics make currency relationships an ever increasing component of successful trading.  Interested investors will find Tim’s professional demeanor and enthusiastic nature to be a valuable asset in building an investment plan to meet their short and long term goals.
